Recently, two weeks back after writing a post (guest posting vs article marketing) I published it and every thing was normal after two minutes (approximately) when I opened the same post I saw Page Not Found Error!, then I immediately tried to login to my blog admin panel and to my surprise logins were not accepting I was in a dilemma -”did I got hacked!” (logins automatically changed to old ones not hacked) I went to home page and saw that it is showing two months back old posts, all new posts were deleted.

Most sad things was I didn`t had back up for one month posts! thought may be my hosting people will have back up but, after chatting with them I came to know that they can give only two weeks back up that too paid! Everything was blank for me at that time.

But suddenly I saw that all my post were back :) and with same logins (reason for problem was shifting blog from old hosting to new one, some problem with blog data transfer). Now, I  decided that I need to take backup of every week so to alert my fellow bloggers who are ignoring backup (like I did) am sharing this post.

3 Most Important And Basic WordPress Security Tips

#1 Remove Default Admin Account

By default wp blogs take admin as user name for administrator login, it is same for all wordpress blogs. If you will not change your default admin login then you are keeping a window open for hackers. So the first thing you need to do is change admin user.

How Remove Default admin?

Step 1: After logging into wordpress blog dashboard create new user with different name (different email address) and grant this user administrator role (You will find an option when create new user).
Step 2: Logout of dfault admin dashboard and now login with newly created user and delete the default admin. Thats it! you are done.

#2 Secured Password

Getting user name is very simple for hackers, so to save your blog from them user very complex passwords. How to do that? Use combination of alphabets, numbers and special symbols (!@#^&). Use microsoft password checker to check complexity of your password.

And change your hosting account passwords also.

#3 Backup! Backup! Backup!

Very important and mostly ignored tip. Backup will save your work for draining out. As in the above para I shared my experience (please read if you skipped it). Things will be bad some times having backup will get you out of those bad situations.
